Econometrics is the application of statistical methods to economic data in order to give empirical content to economic relationships. More precisely, it is "the quantitative analysis of actual economic phenomena based on the concurrent development of theory and observation, related by appropriate methods of inference".
Econometrics is a branch course of Statistics. The method of collection of economic data that leads to providing accurate empirical content relevant to economic relationships is known as Econometrics. The branch compiles the study of Economics and Mathematics. Economists use Econometrics to examine a large set of data and simplify the same.
The Econometrics course is offered at different levels via degree, diploma and certificates. Typically the degree courses majoring in Econometrics are offered at PG level via BA, MA or MSc degree. Some of the subjects included in an Econometrics course curriculum are microeconomics, mathematical methods, statistical methods, macroeconomics, mathematical economics, data analysis, economic theory, and more.
