Stay Back Option After Studies in Abroad !
One of the major factors behind the rising number of international students across the globe is the opportunities that are presented in the job sector abroad. While a degree from a university abroad covers wide aspects like an experience of different cultures and exposure on a global platform, the actual impact of education is reflected in the curriculum vitae of the student. Keeping the numbers in mind, many other emerging studies abroad destinations have either simplified or introduced new policies to facilitate easier post-study work visa for international students.
Students and parents are getting apprehensive about studying abroad; and why shouldn’t they? After all, everyone would like to work in the country after studies to gain international work experience and to recover a significant part of the studying costs.

The Graduate Route
From 1 July 2021, international students who have successfully completed an undergraduate or master’s degree will be able to benefit from two years’ work experience in the UK upon graduation, through the new Graduate Route. Students who complete their PhD will be able to stay for three years.
Here is everything you need to know:
The Graduate Route will be available to international students who have a valid student visa at the time of application and have successfully completed a degree at undergraduate level or above at a Higher Education Provider with a track record of compliance.
Successful applicants on this route will be able to stay and work, or look for work, in the UK at any skill level for a maximum period of two years if they have successfully completed an undergraduate or master’s degree. PhD graduates will be able to stay for three years. Graduates will be able to switch into skilled work once they have found a suitable job.
The new route will be launched on 1 July 2021, meaning that any eligible student who graduates after this date will be able to apply for the route. This includes students who have already started their courses.
The Graduate Route will require a new visa application, which will only be possible from inside the UK.
It will include the payment of a visa fee of £700 and the Immigration Health Surcharge at the full rate of £624 per year.
Students will also need to know the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) they used for their most recent Student (or Tier 4) application in order to apply for the Graduate Route.

To continue living in Ireland after your Study Visa expires, you must switch to an appropriate visa scheme. There are a few options open to international students, with the most popular being the Third Level Graduate Scheme.
Third Level Graduate Scheme
This scheme allows up to two years of stay-back for a non-EEA national student to seek employment in the State or to apply for a green card. To qualify for this scheme, you must demonstrate to Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS) that you:
Have graduated in Ireland with a bachelor’s, masters, or doctoral degree and can provide evidence of your qualification
Have valid Stamp 2 student immigration permission
Have not applied more than two times for this programme
Have not exceeded the seven year maximum limit of stay for non-EEA graduates
In addition, your degree must have been granted by a recognised Irish awarding body.
Under the Third Level Graduate Scheme, non-EU/EEA students who have completed recognised degrees at Level 9 (i.e. masters degrees or post-graduate diploma) or Level 10 (PhD) will be able to remain in Ireland for 24 months while seeking employment or acquiring another form of work permit or green card. Those who have completed degrees at Level 8 (bachelor/higher diploma) will be entitled to remain for 12 months under the scheme.
This scheme permits graduates to work for up to 40 hours per week, however to work above 40 hours per week, the non-EEA student must obtain a relevant work permit.
